Job Description

Are you passionate about environmental sustainability, waste reduction, circular economy, social justice, local community, creative innovation, and being part of systems change? Do you live on Gabriola Island and have strong project management, communication, and people skills? Do you enjoy the opportunities and creative challenges that start-ups and social enterprises present? If so, we hope you’ll join our team in the new position of ReLove Local Manager. 

The ReLove Local Manager reports to the GIRO General Manager and works as part of a team with the MakerSpace Manager. This purposeful and dynamic part-time role can mostly be done remotely on flexible hours AND requires some onsite work/coordination during specific days/hours (choice of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, or Saturdays between 9am-4pm). Weekend or evening work for markets. Access to vehicle and driver’s license is required for travel to markets. We reimburse ferry and mileage.

Roles and Responsibilities:

💕 Off-site Markets: alternating Gabriola Saturday market, Nanaimo market and occasional Sunday Silva Bay drop-ins - set up, sales, etc.

💕 Social Media Management: 1 post a week on Instagram and Facebook (posting, engagement, boosting ($5 budget per post)) and Stories. 

💕 Reporting: monthly analysis of ReStore sales, Nova sales, vendor orders, special event sales, inventory projections, and putting orders in with Makers.

💕 Inventory management: coordinating with ReStore team for storage, restocking ReStore and offsite locations like Nova, conducting monthly inventory counts, recording sales (outgoing inventory) and packing slips (incoming inventory), troubleshooting inventory discrepancies.

💕 Product Display: weekly restock of products at GIRO and as needed at local off-site locations. Display aesthetic and ensuring consistent packaging (tags, labels). 

💕 Team coordination: ensuring smooth communication and coordination between ReStore team, apprentices, MakerSpace Manager, and Makers. Attending regular meetings with other C2C Threads leads.

💕 Communications: responding to contact form submissions, managing email account and Google Drive. Collaborating with external service providers as needed. 

💕 Material preparation: collaborating with ReStore sorters to select fabrics, washing and drying textiles (and/or coordinating volunteers), coordinating with Makers to provide materials required to fulfill orders.


$1200/month -  $20/hour PT (approx 15 hrs per week, potential for increase dependent on successful sales). Monthly: 60 hours approx. Summer contract.
